The team at Mach has been working on the renovations to Kent Hall at SUNY Plattsburgh for DASNY, the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York.
The College identified a need to provide an alternative housing choice for upper class students. Renovations to the 4-story double-loaded corridor residence hall will transform the space into suite-style living with private bathrooms. Floor lounges will be provided with full kitchens as well as study and recreational space.
The central laundry room in the basement will be removed and laundry rooms will be located on each floor. The building lounge on the first floor will include a large demonstration kitchen and a seminar room will be added for educational offerings. Working with the campus food service department, a deli/café will be located on the ground floor.
The renovations include replacement of exterior windows, the addition of an elevator and the upgrade of all interior finishes. Air conditioning will be added to enable year round use of the building. Site work includes renovations to the front plaza to complement and complete the community design started with adjacent Mason and Macomb Halls. A new exterior seating and dining area will be provided for the deli/café overlooking the Saranac River.
