In the spring of 2016 Jefferson Community College in Watertown, New York, opened the doors to the new John W. Deans Collaborative Learning Center. This state-of-the-art facility takes the traditional library and media center functions and supplements them with a Learning and Success Center, Career Planning and Placement Center, Strategies to Achieve Results program, Veteran Services, tutoring and a technology rich collaborative classroom.
The design team at Mach worked closely with the College to capture the vision of this integrated library and technology hub. The design combines ease of access to essential services with spaces that encourage student interaction with faculty and staff. Students have direct access to multiple break out rooms for team projects and group study. Flexible tutoring space and study areas flanked by faculty and staff offices promote student success. Spaces are filled with natural light and furnished with a variety of seating types that support a comfortable learning environment while promoting collaboration.
